It’s been a while since we launched Copa.Landing.jobs: a national competition aimed to find the best tech pros in Brazil. Last August, we blew our whistle and let the match begin.
As it so happens, almost 1.000 Brazilian tech pros took part in this challenge. The final goal was to get the top 4 to travel to Lisbon to find out more about the vivacious tech scene in the Portuguese capital, and to discover why sweet Lisbon is the sexiest city on Earth. #sorryParis
We knew Brazil would introduce us to some awesome tech pros. We have to admit how overwhelmed we were by the top talents we found through Copa.Landing.jobs. After a batch of coding tests and personal interviews, it was a tough task to narrow it down to four winners. But, hey, we did it! And we are really proud of our choices.
Last Sunday, our four winners, Daniel, Fernando, Henrique, and Marcelo, finally arrived in Lisbon from São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Santa Maria and Goiânia — one Data Scientist, one Android Developer, one Back-end, and one Front-end Developer.
On Monday, they came to visit Landing.jobs, meet our team and have a little chat about the most effective way to apply for tech jobs in Europe with Bo, one of our Talent Advocates. Our meeting ended with a great team lunch — we love those — in a typical Portuguese restaurant.

We also took the four of them to visit Startup Lisboa, the startup incubator that used to be our home until we grew big enough to move to our new office. The highlight of the day was a visit to Academia de Código to get to know their coding bootcamp, a special programme to convert non-tech pros into talented developers.

But how could they get the feel of Lisbon’s tech scene without visiting some of its biggest players? Talkdesk and Uniplaces, two of Lisbon’s pride and joys, were kind enough to let our Copa winners have a tour of their headquarters.

At Talkdesk, they had the chance to find out about the call center cloud solution the company offers, and how they’re able to manage two offices with an ocean in between them: in Lisbon and San Francisco. Our friends there invited them to spend a day with the tech team so they could better understand the company’s atmosphere. These wise Brazilian guys jumped right into this opportunity; here’s hoping for good news…
We moved on to Uniplaces, the student accommodation marketplace, where we spent the entire afternoon at their amazing brand new office in the beautiful Rossio station. If only you were there to feel the enthusiasm in the room!
Naturally, we turned our matchmaker mode on and got all four of them job interviews with some of the best companies in Lisbon (we’re looking at you, Aptoide). It wasn’t all work and no play, though. We spared them some time to enjoy lovely Lisbon, discover its enchanting streets, delight themselves with Portuguese food and have fun in the city’s nightlife. Their stay in Hotel Florida was also the perfect place to start their day of exploring the Portuguese capital.
Their time here in Lisbon came to an end on Friday, but we’re hoping that when they come back, it’ll be for good.
