Hired is our blog post series where we feature success stories and testimonials from tech professionals that were hired through Landing.Jobs. We’re always really proud to shine a spotlight on their journeys, so this is their moment to shine. May they also inspire you to pursue the best in your tech career! ✨

Tell us about yourself, what is your name and what do you do?

I’m Juan Rosero, a front end developer from Ecuador. I specialize in building stuff for the web using react.

How did you find out you wanted to be a Front-end Developer?

By chance actually. When I started university, I picked an electronics and networking specialization. Thankfully, there were some coding classes on the curriculum and that’s where I discovered that I really like coding.

I was good at it and over time some people approached me with more and more projects. Most of them had to do with the web, so little by little I started learning all this stuff.

There was no “front-end development is my thing” moment, I enjoyed each project and just went to the next hehe.

How did you come across Landing.Jobs?

Online searching. I was pretty enthusiastic the first time I saw the website since it offered the possibility of moving to Europe, which I eventually ended up doing.

What did you like the most about the platform? Did we meet your expectations?

Well, the people I had contact with were definitely the best of all my experience, they were always helpful. Also, I liked the style of the platform and that it was easy to apply to new open positions.

How was the recruitment process for your job?

Long. It took many interviews to get a proposal but it paid off. I’m really happy with my current job.

What made you accept the offer of your current company?

The fact that I was able to relocate to Lisbon mainly.

And how is your new work experience going?

So far, so good. My company shares many values with me. Mainly, openness, they really like to listen to people and ideas no matter where they come from.

What do you think will be your biggest professional challenges for the foreseeable future?

I want to scale up positions as I get more and more experience and I feel like being able to manage a team is paramount to higher and better paying positions. Learning and mastering those skills I think is something that will challenge me going further.

Would you advise Landing.Jobs to a friend? What would you say to them?

Yes, definitely. Where I come from it’s almost unheard of a website that can actually do that. I would encourage them to try it out, to clean their CV and start sending applications, over time they will figure out what companies want from them. Maybe they can start learning some skills in order to make their profile more attractive.
