Landing.Tech #20 — Apple WWDC 2020: the 18 biggest announcements

On times where Privacy and Tracking are being discussed due to controlling the pandemic, do you believe that Google is really doing this?

Unlocking tech talent stories

June 26, 2020

We’re on the 20th edition of Landing.Tech and that marks the end of the 1st Semester of 2020. No one could have predicted what this year has brought so far, and if this is a sign of the things to come, we are in for a hell of a year. But I guess that it if we were finishing the year now, that would be the case anyway, so let’s just move on for what got our attention this week:

In 2019, Google rolled out a way to automatically delete data points after three months or 18 months, but from this week on 18 months is now the default for new users. On times where Privacy and Tracking are being discussed due to controlling the pandemic, do you believe that Google is really doing this?

This week is also clearly influenced by the first exclusively online edition of Apple’s WWDC 2020. In the link, you can find the 18 biggest announcements, while I’ll use the following sentence to tease a little bit of the article. Between getting to know more regarding iOS 14, learning about Apple switching from Intel-based processors to its own silicon, and or finding out the news regarding the AirPods or the Apple Watch, there’s a lot of announcements to go through.

Last but not least, this is actually my favourite thing I read this week. It’s an endurance game in which the winner will be the person in the world that can keep their finger on the screen the longest. What’s the prize? It will be chosen by the users of the app, but it will be at a maximum, $25,000. So far I managed to get 1-hour, have you tried it?

When this article goes out, I’ll be enjoying a Friday off. I’ll be focusing on trying to win the game while also giving my mind a rest. That’s my final point today: remember to rest and fight the feeling of “since I cannot travel, I won’t take any vacations”. Your mind will thank you!

The future starts today.
