Talent is scarce and professionals turn into rockstars receiving two to three job offers on a daily basis. Companies need to stand out from the crowd and recruiters are faced with the constant war for talent.

In times of disruption, we want to understand and anticipate current market needs, analyzing trends and giving an outlook about the future of Tech HR. We believe that together we can find solutions for our common challenges and that’s why we’re hosting the Tech Hiring Conference in Munich, aimed at managers, executive directors and everyone else involved in Tech Recruitment. There are several challenges that all of us are facing:

The main and probably the most important one is the ferocious War for Talent. Companies need to stand out from the crowd, and there are some initiatives we can recommend.

  • Having an actively lived employer branding program and brand ambassadors. Take the example of Hubspot. Their Culture program is well known all around the globe and is the value proposition that sets them apart from competitors.
  • Perks are also one of the factors that employees look for nowadays. If you have a big focus on career planning and invest in a personal development budget & training possibilities, you’ll also be proving your employees that you care about them. Remember, everyone is looking for skilled and knowledgeable new members to add to their teams. You have to beat the competition.

How to match cultural and professional fit in hypergrowth? If you work in a company that is going through a hypergrowth stage, and you’re struggling to match the talent you need with the culture of your company, here are two suggestions for you.

  • Define your culture in terms of clear and observable behaviors. This will ensure that everyone will have the same cultural definitions and that the always hard to deal with abstract values are seen in concrete ways by everyone in the company. While hiring, don’t forget to invest time in personality assessment as well and not only hard skills. If you take personality into account, you can focus on identifying enthusiast people that want to make a difference.
  • Look for people that thrive in knowledge sharing and always show the willingness to collaborate. Don’t hire to reach your goals, hire the right people that will make a difference in your team and business.

The clash between the hiring manager and the recruiter is also really important to tackle early on and is present on a daily basis. You need to get a clear grasp of the skills needed for a candidate to flourish.

  • Collaboration between recruiters and hiring managers is essential in the early definition of roles, maybe even with specific training to understand the candidate requirements. And don’t forget about the inclusion of technical assessment tools on screenings. You don’t want to end up hiring someone who is not fulfilling your needs.

And of course, with so much pressure to reach your hiring goals, how do you manage candidates under time pressure and which tools can cut time out of the process?

  • The first tip we can give you is to have a consistent, transparent and short interview process, this helps to eliminate bias and facilitates the scaling when you have a lot of candidates in the process. You can achieve this if you try to integrate your process with tools of external providers facilitating the process (prescreened applications, templates, event planner bot, visa support partnership, etc.). You don’t need to do everything alone, after all. If you have the right process on track, you’ll make sure that you’re not losing people because of your process and maximizing your chances of success.

If these are problems that you face at your organization, you are not alone. On the 20th of November, we will gather a community of tech HR professionals to share challenges and find solutions at the Tech Hiring Conference Munich. You’ll be able to hear Sophie Theen’s experience during the hypergrowth phase at Revolut, and the different phases of Company Culture they went through, as well as Emily Scanlan, Culture Coordinator at Hubspot, a reference in Company Culture.
