Don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s a Tech Hiring Boom coming. In fact, it’s already here. Companies are hiring like crazy, and tech professionals are suddenly realising it’s time for life to move on.
March 2020 brought the Covid-19 pandemic full-force, and with it a sudden ‘freeze’ due to the uncertainty and fear of the future everybody felt then. Staying put was the option for both companies and tech professionals.
After a relatively untroubled 2020 summer, companies realised they needed to resume hiring tech professionals. Their businesses were starting to feel the negative impact of the lack of IT capacity.
But tech professionals took more time to ‘leave the hole’, and after a whole year with a very low rate of job changing, this spring of 2021 brought the right time for you developers and techies out there to lift your heads again and get your careers back on track.
To show you these are not just opinions, I can assure you, by Landing.Jobs stats, that the number of tech jobs published has grown more than 100% from June 2020 to March 2021, while the number of tech professionals looking for jobs took an almost perfect 1 bit left shift (geek pun, sorry to non-techies). So, both sides of the market are riding the wave (are you?).
Last year was not one of huge average salary increases, but Landing.Jobs’ Tech Careers Report 2021 has shown a clear increase in two salary trends:
- Remote work jobs pay way more (35% more) than full-office jobs
- Working as contractors (vs working as permanent employees) is rising, mostly due to the big salary increase (+50%!) this represents
Besides this, our data also shows tech professionals change jobs each 1,5 to 2,3 years. How do you compare to this?
With the Tech Hiring Boom we’re seeing from the company’s side, it’s only natural that great job opportunities are out there in the market. In such a bullish tech hiring market, companies are putting up their top game to retain and, especially, hire great tech talent.
So, if you’re considering new career challenges in your current job or just plain looking to land a new job, this is your time. Think it through, reflect on what you want and don’t want, check what’s available in the market, choose, and make a move.
Don’t let it pass. The market will necessarily cool down, and companies will have less needs than they have right now, lowering your chances of a great opportunity.
The time to ride the Tech Hiring Boom is NOW!
Obviously, I strongly advise you to check the job opportunities at Landing.Jobs. Cool companies and jobs all over 😉
