It seems like New Year’s Eve was yesterday, but when you look at it we’re pretty getting to the end of January already. Time doesn’t stop and it happens the same with Tech. So what did it happen this week?
Google has started rolling out its experiences on their own Digital Wellbeing initiative. The first three experimental apps are an Envelope you can use to hide your phone, an app called Activity Bubbles that will put a bubble on your wallpaper each time you open your phone and that will increase its size based on the time you’ve spent on your phone and finally, Google’s new Screen Stopwatch, a live wallpaper that constantly counts up when your phone is unlocked. Is it worth to give them a try?
Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s CEO had the chance to ask Elon some questions and he used the opportunity to ask how Elon would fix Twitter. Twitter hosted a live video call between Jack and Elon on a giant screen, and thousands of Twitter employees had the chance to see the conversation. If you had to choose one question, what would you ask?
Clearview is an American startup that surfaced all over the news this week. Why? The New York Times says they can “end privacy as we know it”. They provide face-recognition services and their services are being used by more than 600 authorities. Using pictures from Social platforms they can recognize faces within seconds, clearly violating Facebook’s terms of use and on top of that, they can manipulate results as they see fit. Results that are shown to the police. What’s your opinion on this subject?
We don’t think that issues like the ones regarding Clearview will disappear from the news easily, and we bet that we will be speaking about more cases like this on any other Friday. See you next week?
