During 5 days, we had more than 15 speakers giving all kinds of insights regarding remote work. If you didn’t have the opportunity to participate, do not worry because we’ve compiled a summary with the best insights.
Monday — 27/04: Remote Working
On the first day, we had Scott Chacon from Chatterbug and previously GitHub, June Bolneo from Grow Remote and Sara Gorjão from tb.lx
Scott Chacon spoke about how Remote Working was a success on a really early stage at GitHub and how that influenced the whole company. Scott also explained how he took those lessons and implement them when starting Chatterbug.
Tip of the day: Be sure that every employee has one and only one line manager, that will help the employee on his career path and development.
Tuesday — 28/04: Remote Recruiting
On the second day, we were joined by Inês Miranda from Landing.Jobs, Catarina Ferreira from GitLab Inc , and Eva Baluchova from Wearebridge.io
Inês Miranda presentation was a step by step guide on how to find a remote job.
Tip of the day: You don’t need a CV pdf to find a job — you can get creative and use your GitHub, personal website or portfolio to stand out from the crowd.
Wednesday — 29/04: Development
The third day was a good one with João Aires from Landing.Jobs, Jaime Ferreira from Feedzai and Pedro Torres from Salsify.
Tip of the day: Don’t assume stuff, just solve what you know. Simple and elegant solutions are much harder to do and they are usually more effective.
Thursday — 30/04: Product
To talk about Product we had Marc Abraham from Asos, Shir Zalzberg from Salesforce, Tiago Cabaço from OLX Group and Conor O’Driscoll from Devexperts.
Marc Abraham shared how managing products is all about managing frustrations, not only the ones from the team but also your own.
Tip of the day: Understanding Emotional triggers is key.
Friday — 01/05: Future of Work
On the last of the Remote Tech Week, we were joined by Hugo de Sousa & Fabian Wong from Capital Consulting and Gianluca Rosania from Glovo and LIVT.
Hugo and Fabian were very creative while presenting — using Miro as a tool, they took us to their talk like it was a story and made us think on what is really going to change in real-world companies like McDonald’s or Lego after the outbreak.
On this day we also had a “more out of the box” session about challenges on creating great music and making a living in a remote-first world.
This session had the presence of Ana Miranda (Founder @ Arte Institute), John Gonçalves (Musician @ The Gift), Robin Vincent (A&R @ The Orchard), Moullinex (Founder @ Discotexas) & Álvaro Covões (Managing Director @ Everything is New)
The closing party was a live session with the Portuguese DJ Moullinex 🎧
